| Just like people, dogs are a mix of nature and nurture. The environment you create for your dog will shape its personality and behaviour. At Hot Diggity Dogs, we offer private in home dog obedience training sessions that are specific to you and your dog and we also offer group obedience training classes in an environment that brings out the best in your dog.
Dog obedience training is part of everything that we do. Whether you bring your dog to us for puppy socialization training classes, or we come to you for behaviour modification, we treat the time your dog spends with us as an opportunity to teach good behaviours and help to correct problems.
Our Approach
The first step in shaping new behaviours is understanding that acceptable dog behaviour isn’t the same as acceptable human behaviour. Dogs are pack animals; they understand leadership as well as consistency and boundries.
Being a leader is subtle and doesn’t mean being aggressive, it means taking the time to teach your dog what you want. Consistency and clarity are the key to building trust, once there is trust your dog will look to you for leadership. At Hot Diggity Dogs we help you become the leader your dog needs without using punishment as the first thing to use.
Our dog obedience training philosophy is based on commitment,
patience, and realistic expectations (CPR).
New classes start all the time, so contact us to find out when your dog can start obedience training. We also offer personalized sessions in the privacy of your home for obedience training or behaviour modification training.
Basic Obedience Training
Our basic obedience training classes run for seven sessions, with a maximum of 8 dogs per session. The goal of these classes is to teach leadership skills, self-control, build confidence, and develop the bond between owner and dog. The course covers specific commands (sit, stay, come, heel, and down) as well as leash manners. We have one trainer and one assistant per class. Please contact us as new dog obedience training classes start weekly.
